Earth Quaker Action Team
There's a lot going on Saturday, August 18th including a solar homes tour in West Philadelphia and an action at Penn's Landing.
We would be glad to have you join this action, but if you are choosing between the action and the fundraiser/tour, please support Carolyn by either attending the fundraiser or helping out. email Carolyn ( carolyn.mccoy@outlook.com) to find out how to help, whether baking lemon bars or being available to talk about the campaign.
The Public Facing Action taking place at Penns Landing will be during one of PECO’s cultural events. We will be gathering at 11:15 for training and mounting of our signs on the Great Plaza fence. Please meet up at the entrance to the Penn’s Landing Great Plaza (foot of Chestnut St) at 11:15. Depending on the energy, we will likely wind down the event around 2:00 p.m.
We plan to engage to public at the entrance to the event with “Burma Shave” signs as well as at some of the quieter areas that concert goers may gather at during the event.
We are going to try two ways for the public to make a choice into what kind of PECO do you want, a fossil fuel past or future solar fuel and local green jobs.
One way to voice a choice will be a voting board for people to register their choice about PECOs future using small green balls and the other will allow folks to take selfies in front of props to demonstrate their support for a healthier energy and employment future. It is our hope that these photos can be shared on social media.
Our goals for the action are:
- Have people make a choice between a green energy future or a fossil fuel past.
- For people with some interest, invite them to become more involved
- Let PECO know that we are around and bringing out our message.
We have four role assignments already:
- Action Lead/Media Liaison Marc Brier
- Police Liaison Ryan Leitner
- Assistant to Lead Rachel Zervas
- Signs Linda Clark
We could certainly use some help from our awesome corps of EQAT volunteers. If you feel led, we could use some help engaging the public at this event.
If you are planning to come, there’s not much shade at Penns Landing so be sure to bring a hat and water.
Rain date for this action is Sunday, Sept. 2. And even if we don't get rained out on Saturday, we may gather again at the PECO cultural event scheduled for the September date.
Call Marc Brier at 610-416-9689, if you are interested in joining this action.
