First Virtual Meeting - March 15, 2020
Valley Friends had their first Virtual Meeting today. We will meet this way until the danger of corona virus abates. Instructions for how to join us are in the post below.
Virtual Meeting for Worship - Until Further Notice
The corona virus is affecting everything, including Meeting for Worship. We all want to go to Meeting but we want to be safe. We have arranged to have a “virtual” Meeting, using software called Zoom. You will be able to join Meeting on your PC, Mac, tablet, or even an iPhone or Android Phone.
Software Installation Instructions: You will need the Zoom Software. It is free, clean, has no ads; and is easy to install. If you do not already have Zoom click here and a new page will open; follow the instructions. You only need to do this once, and you may do it anytime before the Meeting. If you need help you can call Graham at 484 598 3543.
To Join the Meeting: The Meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:45 to give everyone time to get in by 10:00 am. Don’t worry if you are late, still come to Meeting. Just click here to enter. The device you are using may ask you several security questions, to which you should reply “Yes” to launch the software and to grant access to your camera and microphone.
Alone
On February 23, 2020, Becky Kennedy-Lange closed meeting reading Maya Angelou’s Alone.
Alone
Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Valley Hosted the Haverford Quarter - January 26, 2020
After a productive Meeting for Business which discussed the possible positions that we as Quakers may take when the government announces the new Selective Service Regulations, we continued in silence to Meeting for Worship.
Following Worship there was a discussion led by EQAT (Earth Quaker Action Team) presenting recent actions against PECO dirty energy development projects in economically depressed neighborhoods in the Philadelphia area.
Lunch with lots of Friendly discussion and fellowship as well as good food followed.
